Ecumenical relations between Ukrainian Greek-Catholic and Baptist churches in Lviv region and its relation to the joint Christian mission in society
Full-scale invasion of Russia to Ukraine has evoked the activation of the Ukrainian civil society movement with the various church denominations being a part of it. While some Christian congregations started to cooperate in joint social projects most of them still tend to engage into societal work, as part of their Christian mission separately. This thesis aims to explore the barriers and opportunities for ecumenical relations between two chosen denominations against the background of the urgent need to jointly perform Christian mission in society.
Why this topic matters to me
Because I believe Christians are called to live in unity. Seeing differented churches in conflictual relations is personally hard for me, especially in the times of war in my country.
Why I believe it is important to society
I believe that a church united in mission can have a much more positive impact and provide more effective help to a society facing the disastrous consequences of war.
Impact of the Ladies of Bethany Chair on my life and career
It has had a life changing impact! Without this funding, I would have never had an opportunity to study this subject in the European university and to do this reserach with the help and support of the professors. I am forever grateful!
The difference I hope my work will make in the world
I realize the big difference starts with the small change. So, I really hope my project will help to improve the relationships between two churches in my region, therefore approaching global unity of the Christian church.
